Historic Mountain City Playhouse is being revived! Ooshie Enterprises, LLC, a local;
Rabun County native-owned company purchased the iconic building and land and works in conjunction with Ooshie Life, LLC and Mountain Learning Enrichment, Inc, a local nonprofit; 501c3 to revive the once vibrant dance hall. The Mountain City Playhouse is also home to Blue Ridge Activity & Tumbling Center, which provides movement-based activities for the local community youth.

English Country Dancing for Teens & Young Adults
Step back in time and discover the beauty, joy, and fellowship of English country dancing with the Mountain Regency Dance Society at the historic Mountain City Playhouse!
Designed especially for teens and young adults ages 13–20, these welcoming open-house lessons offer an opportunity to learn traditional English country dances in a fun, social, and encouraging environment. No previous dance experience is necessary—just come ready to learn, move, and enjoy an evening with friends!
Admission: $10 per student

Parents, guardians, and younger siblings are welcome! A guardian must be present with minors. Parents and siblings under age 10 are admitted free.

Mountain City Contra Dances
Every 3rd Friday: October 16th, November 20th, and December 18th
6:30pm Lesson, 7pm-9pm Dance
Suggested Donation: $5-$15
Live Music. All Ages. No Experience Needed. No Partner Needed.
Learn how to do-si-do, allemande, and swing! Mountain City Contra Dances are the perfect way to have fun, enjoy live music, and make new friends. Contra Dance is like a Jane Austen ball with square dance energy. Line dancing says “Stay in your spot,” but contra dancing lets you connect and interact with folks around you. An instructor walks you through all the basic moves before each dance. Then the music starts and every move is called out in time to the tune so you know what comes next! It’s all about having fun, so there’s no pressure to get anything “right”. All ages are invited. Come on your own, with a partner, or bring the whole family! Concessions are available. Now experience or fancy clothing is needed. Enjoy live music from area bands even if you don’t want to dance. A $5-$15 donation is suggested.
Harrison Keely, a Brasstown-based dance caller who teaches barn dances for parties, weddings, and communities, is the primary caller. He is a regular on the John C. Campbell Folk School schedule.
